Padang Shaken - Some Structural Damage - Tsunami Warning Issued


A major quake has caused serious damage to homes near the coast around Bengkulu about 200nm south of the Mentawai Islands.

Padang buildings have suffered mild to severe physical damage. The population are on high alert and expecting after shocks. At least two buildings have collapsed and one person has been killed.

We have had reports of buildings collapsing in Bengkulu and people along the coast have evacuated to high ground.

Island Aid are attempting to contact family and friends in the coastal city to lean more about the damage.
